Megumi Kaizu is an artist, writer, educator and translator. Her poetry, fiction, essays and reviews have appeared in anthologies and journals, and she has exhibited her artwork internationally.


Kaizu studied art and Russian at University of Oregon and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in philosophy (aesthetics). More of Kaizu’s artwork can be viewed here.



Influenced by Japanese literature and folklore, Kaizu draws inspiration from antiquity, philosophy, cinema, modern Russian poetry and other sources.

Her poetry and prose have appeared in journals and anthologies such as Words Without Borders and the Brooklyn Rail. She has also contributed reviews to art magazines and translated prose and poetry.
